In an interview with Tri-City Herald, SSC owner and founder Jerod Shelby said: “Jason’s involvement will bring to SSC in one to two years what would have taken us 10. I am thoroughly excited for SSC and what this project will bring to the Tri-Cities.”
Among the cars designed by Jason Castriota are Ferrari-based Pininfarina P4/5, the Stile Bertone Mantide, the Maserati MC12-based Birdcage and the Rolls-Royce Hyperion.
The Ultimate Aero entered the Guinness World Book of Records in October 2007 when it reached 257 mph, becoming the world’s fastest production car.
The next generation Aero model will feature carbon fiber body and a price ranging between $800,000 and $900,000, about twice the cost of the current model. Shelby is also planning a smaller model with the Castriota signature, that could be launched at a price of $300,000.
