share on BufferAt the AutoExpo 2010 in India, New Delhi-based company Desmania Design Pvt. Ltd. has presented 2 full scale prototypes: a two seater sportscar called ‘Sculptura’ and a single-rider sports bike called ‘Synergi’.
Sculptura Concept
The original goal was to design a premium midrange sports car for the Indian market that would be affordable and also boast of sustainable luxury for Indian customers who would like to enjoy the thrill of speed and adventure.
The front end is characterized by flowing curves. In the side view, the rising waist line and the shoulder line create a sense of speed while giving the car an aggressive character. At the rear, the wheel arches reflect this sensation of authority and power.
The original headlamp design has been inspired from the old sport coupes. The system features lighting units that mechanically pop out of the body surfaces and seem to be floating on top of the hood, giving a very distinctive face to the car.
The low roofline and windscreen further accentuate the sportiness and the visual "flow" from the front to the back. Unlike the front headlaps, the tail lamps are shaped as an integral part of the rear volume.
Project Lead and Designer Anupam Tomer says, “Sculptural Aesthetics was the key theme for this project and we identified a market for a sustainable yet exclusive automotive design. The concept car visualizes beauty and a taste for refined living at a sustainable price.
"The emphasis was not necessarily on designing something futuristic but more realistic yet progressive and production wise.”
Synergi Bike Concept
The ‘Synergi’ concept bike combines clean technology with existing technology.
"It is a transition design between the current market and future scenario, and promotes the use of cleaner technologies on a 2 wheeler."
Anupam Tomer comments “‘Synergi’ is a concept ‘plug-in hybrid’ sports bike that has a mono-form aesthetic emphasizing the simplicity in its design approach and styling sensibility.
"We wanted to reflect a breakthrough in the conventional aesthetic language and integrate innovation through the application of fuel cell system technologies.”
The project was aimed at challenging the current styling trend and at reducing the total number of components to achieve a good power to weight ratio.
The frame has been kept under the skin to achieve a very clean and uncluttered look.
