share on BufferAfter the official release of a teaser sketch, the first images of the upcoming Concept by Bertone have surfaced online and been reported by the media, as well as the name of the car, "Pandion", a genus of birds of prey with a single member, the Osprey, very common in Noth America.
The futuristic and sci-fi-inspired design penned by Jason Castriota has more in common with the creations of the Stile Bertone design studio – the Alfa 8C-based B.A.T. 11 and the Corvette ZR1-based Mantide – rather than with the typical Alfa production sportscars, usually characterized by flowing lines and clean surfaces.
In addition, the futuristic cabin with a 2+2 seating layout and transparent roof have some stylistic reminescences with the historic prototypes designed by Italian designers in the 60s and 70s.
According to the first unofficial information the Pandion Concept is based on the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione and has a total weight of just 1,000 kg.
The official debut is planned for the 2010 Geneva Motor Show.
