JJAD P1E preview

British company JJAD has revealed the first image and information on the P1E, a lightweight electric sportscar based on the Project 001 that could reach a limited series production in 2012.

The P1E is based on the same platform of the Project 001, first revealed on February 2008 by JJAD, a company founded by former McLaren Cars employee Jim Dowle.

The car will combine a design inspired by the Lancia Stratos with an electric powertrain with two electric motors – one for each axle – and lithium-ion batteries, for a total power output of 390 hp and 590lb-ft of torque.

Thanks to the extensive use of lightweight materials (composite body panels on a hybrid aluminum-carbon fiber structure) the total mass is expected to be about 1,050 kg.

Estimated performance figures are a range of 200 miles, a 0-60 mph sprint in 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 130 mph.

Currently in the prototype development stage, the car could be produced in a limited series of about 500 units by 2012.
