Mitsubishi has released the first official pictures of the forthcoming Lancer Evolution X. The design is based on the concept unveiled at the 2007 Detroit Motor Show.

After the pictures of the standard sedan released back in December 2006, Mitsubishi has finally revealed the next generation of the extreme Evolution version.

The design is basically unchanged from the Prototype X presented at the 2007 Detroit Motor Show and previewed in 2005 with the Concept X.

The name of the model for the Japanese market will be Galant Fortis ("fortis" means strong in Latin).

The X that follows the Evolution name indicates the 10th generation of the rally-inspired version.
