First announced in 2015, the AM37 project aims at blending the Aston Martin Design DNA with an innovative maritime concept that challenges the status quo of the nautical world.
The AM37 is the first powerboat to carry the Aston Martin’s name and was developed under the supervision and technical support of Mulder Design, the renowned naval architect based in the Netherlands.
Mulder Design provided the framework of the design to Aston Martin and then ensured that style changes made in the UK complemented the hull€™s performance.
One of the unique features of the AM37 is the sliding deck technology: it consists of three carbon panels that allow to completely cover the cockpit when not in use, to protect it from weather and uninvited guests.
The panels are operated by the electronic command of the AM37 key, and fold under the aft deck when uncovering the cockpit.
Once the cockpit is open, the aft deck can slide back to allow for easy boarding or better use of the slide-out swim platform and ladder.
It can open up completely to give access to the engine room, storage compartments, and the automated full carbon bimini top.
The AM37 also offers remote controlled devices for starting the air conditioning, the fridge and the coffee machine while still at home or driving to the marina.
Navigation, control monitor and entertainment systems are all integrated, with advanced multimedia functions and interactive voice control.
The user interface of the multimedia and entertainment system is installed in a 15€² touch screen on the dashboard, which the guests can also use. Owners have their own cluster with a dedicated display for monitoring engine status and navigation.
Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman said: €œIt is true that a beautiful, simple shape is critical to a product€™s success but it must also have drama, which is provided by surface language, proportions, and through the choice of exciting materials. The most important attribute for Aston Martin is the language of design and we have transferred this language into AM37. The new powerboat represents the ideal combination of luxurious and technical materials, generating a powerful yet understated finished product.€
Quintessence Yachts Chief Executive Officer, Mariella Mengozzi commented: €œAt Quintessence Yachts we translate design in functionality and technology to enhance the customer experience. We€™re proud to present elements of the AM37 at Milan Design Week, a boat that represents an entirely new concept for the yachting world.€
AM Brands Managing Director, Katia Bassi concluded: €œThe Salone del Mobile is the perfect setting to showcase the design of the AM37, another exceptional project from Aston Martin€™s Art of Living portfolio. We are excited to share the fine details and design of the powerboat ahead of its launch later this year.€
