Wacom launches the Cintiq 27QHD and Cintiq Companion 2

At the CES 2015 Wacom has launched the renewed Cintiq flagship model, which gets a 27-inch screen with 2.5K resolution, and the second generation Cintiq Companion tablet.

The new Cintiq 27QHD

The new Cintiq 27QHD and Cintiq 27QHD touch feature a 27” widescreen, edgeless glass display with a 2560x1440px resolution and advanced color performance (97% Adobe RGB color gamut, 1.07 billion colors and REC 709).

Among the new features is the ExpressKey® Remote, a customizable controller that includes buttons and a Touch Ring, and that can be positioned either above the screen or on a desktop.

Thanks to the more compact design, despite the larger display, the overall dimensions are the same of the previous models – the Cintiq 24HD and 24HD Touch.

The new Cintiq has built-in front legs, while an optional adjustable stand (similar to that of the Cintiq 24), is available for purchase separately.

Thanks to the lighter construction, the 27QHD can be also mounted on ergonomic arm stands such as the Ergotron LX or MX series.

The Cintiq 27QHD and Cintiq 27QHD touch will be available from mid-January and will replace the 24HD models. The announced prices for the European market are € 2.199,90 and € 2.599,90, respectively (VAT included).

The Cintiq Companion 2

This update to the original Cintiq Companion is slimmer, lighter and willbe available in five variants. The new 13.3” display has the same 2.5k resolution as the Cintiq 27QHD.

Among the technical highlights are three USB3 ports, SD & Micros SD slots, a Mini-DisplayPort out, and a total of six ExpressKeys.

A new feature is the possibility of connecting the new Cintiq Companions to any system you can get an HDMI signal out of with the 2-in-1 cable. That’s right, you can plug your Cintiq Companion 2 into a Mac or PC for a Pro-Pen and touch desktop experience when you’re not on the move.

The new models are expected to be delivered from this spring. Here are the announced versions:

  • Value (64GB SSD, Intel Core i3-4005U processor, 1.7 GHz ): $1299.99 USD
  • Standard (128GB SSD, Intel Core i5-4258U processor, 2.9 GHz): $1599.99 USD
