The Car Design Academy aims at offering a professional automotive design course at an affordable cost, seeking “to nurture the hidden talents of potential car designers from every corner of the world.”
The program offers students a chance to learn and acquire the fundamental skills necessary for all car designers such as sketching techniques and styling design through an online study system that utilizes original textbooks and videos created specifically for this program.
The school design director is Nori Kurihara, who has worked as a designer at Honda R&D, Form Design (Ital Design), Ford Europe (England and Germany) and with his company DCI (Design Club International, inc.).
The other instructors are Miki Hattori (Opel, Bertone), Takayuki Yamazaki (Honda R&D) and Takeru Can.
The teaching material includes exclusive textbooks and video lectures, complemented by assignements and reviews made through an online platform.
The most comprehensive course is the so-called “CDA Total Course”, which includes 24 different lessons, 70 pages of textbooks, 69 pages of reference materials for sketching, almost 10 hours of video lectures and one-to-one feedback from the instructors.
The tuition fee is $4,000, with an early 30% discount for those who register before December 5th, 2014. The first lessons will start on February 6, 2015, and the deadline for registration is January 31st, 2015.
