Autostyle Design Competition 2014

Berman has announced the 11th edition of Autosytle Design Competition, which will take place in Palazzo Te – Mantua on October 9-10 2014. It will feature an axhibition, a contest and a series of design workshops.


Workshops and Conference

The event will open with a series of workshops: Jaguar designer César Pieri will illustrate the birth of Jaguar Project 7; for Renault, Tibor Juhasz, Autostyle 2005 and 2006 attendee, and the design director for concept cars Axel Breun will explain “The new design of Renault”.

Chief designer Claudio Messale (Ford Europe), who will reveal us “The 50 years edition Ford Mustang”, while Filippo Perini (Lamborghini) will talk about “The Huracán Project”.

Wolfgang Egger (Italdesign) will open Friday’s session. His workshop will be about the concept car Parcour. Flavio Manzoni (Ferrari) will explain the birth of the new California model. Finally, Roberto Giolito (Fiat) will focus on the presentation of Fiat 500X.

Exhibition

The garden “Esedra” will host the exhibition of 20 cars chosen among the most challenging models of 2014: these include the new Ferrari California, Huracán Lamborghini, Fiat 500X, Jeep Renegade and new models designed by Renault, Toyota, Mercedes, Nissan, Bmw, Bentley, Jaguar, Audi, Peugeot and Citroën.

The “Fruttiere”, a prominent location for artistic events, will become the House of design: visitors will have the opportunity to see models, project and images describing the Design Centres’ activities.

A special show of the “golden book” will tell the stories of the most talented students who took part in Autostyle’s past editions, now working as designers in Design Centres all over the world.

Competition

Twelve selected young designers will be the leading actors of grand final. This year they’ve been asked to elaborate “Special versions” starting from the following models: Peugeot 108, Jeep Renegade, Jaguar F-Type Coupé, Maserati Alfieri (concept car) and Volvo XC Coupé (concept car).

The awarding ceremony is scheduled for October 10 at 11.30 a.m. Finalists will be awarded by the Evaluation Committee, composed by the president Fulvio Cinti (Auto&Design magazine), Alessandro Maccolini (Alfa Romeo), Klemens Rossnagel (Audi), Flavio Manzoni (Ferrari), Roberto Giolito (Fiat), Claudio Messale (Ford), Wolfgang Egger (Italdesign), Filippo Perini (Lamborghini), Anna Costamagna (Peugeot-Citroën), Robin Page (Volvo).

  • Besides Auto&Design creativity prizes the following prizes will be awarded:
  • Berman Award for the best proposal  in the category Urban Cars/Crossover
  • Amams Award for the best proposal  in the category Sports cars

Wacom Award assigned by Autostyle 2014 participants (during the event they will vote for their favourite proposal)

The event is promoted by Berman S.p.A. with the support of institutional and private partners and will be hosted at Palazzo Te, a renaissance “villa” built by the painter and architect Giulio Romano (1499-1546).
