“American Dreaming” will report stories and testimonials from men and women who worked in automotive design studios and art curators, historians, and collectors.
The documentary will focus on the period that ranges from the post-War era to the early 1970s, when the American automobile served as a metaphor for the country’s optimism and energy. As the project description reports, the work of designers and artists is seen in the context of automotive history, not just fine art.

“By acknowledging the artists and the art behind the automobile, we arrive at a deeper appreciation of an important part of our American heritage.”
The flim is produced by Detroit artist Robert Edwards and former Detroiter Greg Salustro, who are currently seeking funding to support the film’s completion.
It is possible to make donations at the ChicagoFilmakers.org website. The anticipated release date is Summer 2015.
