The new X6 replaces a very successful first-gen X6 launched back in 2008, that has defined a whole new premium segment and has been sold in 250,00 units in its 6 years life.
Above: comparison between the first-gen X6 (top) and the new model (bottom)
Compared to the current model, the new X6 has the same long wheelbase of 2,933mm, while the other dimensions have been increased: the length is 4,909 mm (+32mm), the width is 1,989 mm (+6 mm) and the height reaches 1.702mm (+33mm).
The front end has a new bumper with X-shaped contour lines and a matt-silver underbody protection, combined with the typical kidney grille, twin circular headlights and front foglamps of BMW X models.
Among the aerodynamic-driven elements are the air deflectors on the front wheel arches, the Air Curtains integrated into the outer air intakes of the front apron and the Air Breathers in the side panels.
The wedge-shaped side view is accentuated by a model-specific interpretation of the double swage lines.
Emerging from the front wheel arches, the first rises steadily up along the new BMW X6 to the rear door handles. A second swage line sets out on a lower path, extending in a dynamic sweep into the rear lights.
The rear end is characterized by horizontal lines that emphasize the width and stance, two-section, L-shaped rear lights with three-dimensional LED light strips and – as for the front – by a matt silver-coloured underbody protection element.

The cockpit has been redesigned and features a sportier steering wheel and a new, sleeker dashboard, with a freestanding screen – up to 10,25 inch in size, which not integrated in the center console, combined with the campny’s iDrive operating system.
The new X6 will go on sale from the end of the year.
