Mercedes-Benz C-Class: the design

Mercedes-Benz has released a video that explains some of the concepts behind the design of the new C-Class, presented at the past Detroit Show.

The short video, released for the start of the new C-Class production, features comments by Gorden Wagener, Daimler AG Vice President Design; Robert Lesnik, Chief Designer Exterior; and Michele Jauch Paganetti, Design Manager at Advanced Design Center Como.

The new C-Class evolves the design language of the S-Class in a sporty way: the side view makes use of the distinctive dropping line nad features a pushed back cabin.

The front end is available to customers with a choice of two very different grilles: the luxury, traditional grille, with a 3D treatment, three fine lamellas and the upright Mercedes-Benz star; and the sporty grille, with two fins and a center-mounted star.

The interior reprises the “dropping line” theme of the exterior and features a totally new center console with flowing lines and – on models with automatic gearboxes – a sweep from the center air vents to the armrest.
