Honda releases 3D data of Concept Cars for 3D printing

Honda has released 3D STL data for exterior designs of a number of past concept cars, including the 2013 NSX Concept, suitable for being replicated with 3D printers.

The models are available in STL format in both high and low resolution versions and can be downloaded from the new Honda 3D Design Archives website.

The data is offered based on version 4.0 of Creative Commons licenses and are suitable for being replicated by a household 3D printer.

At the moment it is possible to download 3D data for the following concept cars:

  • 1994 FSR Concept
  • 1999 Fuya-Jo
  • 2003 Kiwami Concept
  • 2007 Puyo Concept
  • 2013 NSX Concept

Following the release of a Honda brand commercial film titled “Super ultra daydreams” at the Tokyo Motor Show last year, the release of the 3D data through the “Honda 3D Design Archives” will be the second initiative for a new brand promotion campaign based on the “art of manufacturing” theme.

Honda “is hoping to see the emergence of outstanding future automobile designers and engineers from the users who are inspired by this project.”
