For the 2013 LA Design Challenge the Qoros design team has come up with a futuristic transportation system called “Silk Road System” (SRS).
The vehicles (SRVs) are produced by the Qoros Silk Robots, which are sophisticated 3D printers capable of mimic the silkworms’ weaving techniques to create solid objects starting from a recyclable liquid material called Mulberry Qemical.
Once a vehicle is completed, three of these robots are shipped with it and serve as autonomous units for repair and maintainance services.
The vehicles are electric commuters powered by super capacitor batteries and interconnected through an advanced communication system.
Among their features are the possibility of sharing energy with other SRVs and to be recharged on the fly through a wireless energy station located along the road.
The whole system is conceived as a service available through a subscription, which allows to target and customize the experience based on the users’ profile information.
