The brief for the 2013 Design Challenge at the Los Angeles Auto Show was titled “Biomimicry & Mobility 2025: Nature’s Answer to Human Challenges.”
Participating design studios were asked to create a “vehicle experience that uses biomimicry to increase the efficiency of our human capacity and improve mobility”.
Mazda Design Americas’ entry is the Auto Adapt Concept, which takes inspiration from the biological phenomenon of insects’ adaptation over time.
The sleek sportscar can transform from a purely autonomous vehicle to a “traditional” driving machine, in a world where “the excitement expected to be completely eliminated from the autonomous cars of 2025.”
At the moment there are no other details about the onboard technology and features.
