Zenos Cars, a UK-based company co-fonded by former Caterham CEO, has announced the development of three lightweight sportscars. The first one – codenamed E10 – is a compact roadster with a carbon/aluminum monocoque.

The first project of the company is the E10, a compact 2-seater roadster that will feature a hybrid carbon/aluminum monocoque combined with aluminum sub-frames.

Two additional vehicles – a coupé and a roadster codenamed E11 and E12 – are planned to be launched in 2018.

The E10 has very compact dimensions, with a length of just 3,560 mm, a width of 1,870 mm, a wheelbase of 2,300 mm and a height of just 1,010 mm.

The layout is based on a distinctive chassis construction, that integrates a single ‘backbone’ aluminum extrusion with a carbon composite tub; according to Zenos Cars this architecture will deliver significant torsional rigidity at an extremely low mass.

Adopted materials include recycled carbon fiber and a novel thermoplastic core, which allow to eliminate the typical production and replacement costs of this type of low-volume vehicles.

The bare-to-the-bone interior features lightweight composite seats and a multi-function LCD display.

The projected total weight of the E10 is just 650 kg, while the drivetrain features a 2.0 liter engine capable of 200 bhp and suspensions with front and rear double wishbones.
