The “Design in Green 2013” one-day event took place in Turin on last 26 September, during the Smart Mobility World international event.
Luciano Bove, R&D Design Manager at Renault, presented the design history of the Twizy (see the video below – in Italian).
Leonardo Fioravanti retraced the history of electric cars development, focusing on many projects he personally directed, suring the presentation: “Perché il moto alternato quando c’è quello rotatorio?” (“Why (use) reciprocating motion when you can have rotational motion?”).
Marco Capellini, CEO of Matrec, held a speech on sustainable materials for the automotive industry.
Another presentation was held by Roberto Olivi, Corporate Communications Manager at BMW Group Italy, who gave an overview of the design history of the new BMW i3.
The “Diventare green car designer” (“Becoming a green car designer”) presentation, held by Luca Borgogno, Lead Design at Pininfarina coordinator of the Master in Transportation Design at IED – featured the design story of the EYE concept car, the IED Master thesis project Master created in collaboration with Tesla Motors and presented at the 2010 Geneva Show.
The event also featured two interactive workshops titled “Green Look, come il pensare “verde” cambierà, forse, la forma dell’automobile e i suoi modi d’uso” (“Green Look: how ‘thinking green’ will possibly change the automobile’s shape and usage”) and “Dal Green Car design al Green Transportation Design: sarà l’auto o il sistema dei trasporti a dovere essere pensato più verde?” (“From Green Car Design to Green Transportation Design: is the automobile or the transportation system that is supposed to be imagined greener?”).
