Toyota previews Hybrid-R Concept

At the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show Toyota will unveil the Hybrid-R, a special model with specs similar to the TS030 Hybrid racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

According to the first information, the Hybrid-R is based on a current Toyota production model and is equipped with a powertrain that combines a high-power internal combustion engine with electric motors to achieve a maximum power output of more than 400bhp (298kW) – a technology similar to that used by Toyota Racing’s TS030 Hybrid race car in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

A dual mode control allows the car’s performance to be tailored to suit either road or racetrack.

The Hybrid-R Concept will make its debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
