The main protagonist at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este was the Bugatti 57SC Atlantic owned by Ralph Lauren.
The car won the Trofeo BMW Group (Best in Show by the Jury), the Coppa d’Oro Villa d’Este (Best of Show by Public Referendum) as well as the Trofeo BMW Group Italia and the Trofeo BMW Group Ragazzi.
The Design Award for Concept Cars & Prototypes was won by the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante created by Touring Superleggera.
The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2013 brought together 50 cars and 35 motorcycles from widely varying eras in automotive history, along with six concept vehicles and prototypes.
The event also provided the setting for the world premiere of the BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupé and the BMW Concept Ninety.
This year the Concorso di Motociclette, the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este for motorcycles launched in 2011, adopted the “90 years of BMW Motorrad” anniversary as its focal point. The jury awarded the prize to the IMZ M-35K.
A special exhibition at Villa Erba featured over 30 leading lights from BMW’s history of “sheer riding pleasure”, including the BMW R 32 – the company’s first motorcycle – presented in 1923.
About the Concorso
The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este was held for the first time in 1929 in Cernobbio, northern Italy. Since 1999 the event has taken place in the grounds of the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este and Villa Erba under the patronage of the BMW Group.
