Coming from an automotive design background at Bugatti and Porsche, concept designer Daniel Simon is well known for his “Cosmic Motors” book and for his vehicle design work in Hollywood movies such as Tron: Legacy, Captain America, Prometheus and Oblivion.
Featured in “Cosmic Motors”, the Galaxion Coupe has been also used for Autodesk Alias’ product imagery.
He also designed the racing livery for the HRT Formula 1 car and the Lotus Le Mans LMP2.
His creations always succeed in combining a distinctive personal style, believability and an incredible “cool” factor.
The recently announced “The Timeless Racer” will be the first in a new fiction series that presents the story of a parallel racing world and fictitious racer Vic Cooper, “who time-travels to the past and the future to compete in the most challenging motor races between 1916 and 2582.”
“The Timeless Racer – Machines of a time traveling speed junkie” will show cars and characters of the year 1981 and 2027.
As the author explains, the book required 4,000 hours of work and features 3 cars in up to 50 megapixel renders, plus original photography and spec sheets.
The book is in large format (12″x14″ – 30.5cmx35.5cm) and includes 72 pages with English, French and German text, full spread images spanning 24″ in width and a foreword by racing legend Jacky Ickx.
“The Timeless Racer” will be available in July 2013, and can be already pre-ordered through Amazon.
