At the 2012 Paris Motor Show Land Rover will unveil the all-new 2013 Range Rover, featuring a revised design and an all-aluminum unibody structure which allows to save more than 400 kg.

2013 Range RoverThe new model was designed and developed from the ground up at Land Rover’s development centers in the United Kingdom.

The all-aluminum unibody structure is 39 percent lighter than the steel body in the outgoing model.

This enables a total vehicle weight savings of up to 926lbs (420kg), depending on market and specifications, and contributes to significant enhancements in performance and agility, along with an improvement in fuel economy and reduction in CO2 emissions.

Design

2013 Range RoverThe design is an evolution of the iconic lines of the model, and maintains the general proportions and graphics, with the DLO and darkened window pillars forming a wraparound stripe

The swept back front end features cleaner, curvier surfaces and new headlights that extend to the fenders, following the current trend. The same theme is carried over on the tail lights.

In side view, the main styling cues is the straight feature line that connects the front and rear lights and incorporates the door handles.

This line is matched by the lower sill line, where the aluminum element that extends up to the rear end adds visual interest and contrast to the tall flanks.

2013 Range Rover The trademark vertical side vents were moved back from the front fenders to the side door panels, underlining the car’s length.

Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Design Director and Chief Creative Officer, commented: “Designing the next generation Range Rover, following over forty years of success, came with a huge responsibility to protect the DNA of such an icon.

“Our design team worked incredibly hard to capture the elegant proportions and pure surfaces which have been a feature of the best Range Rover designs.”

Interior Design

2013 Range Rover Interior The design of the dashboard is an evolution of the current model.

It is characterized by more linear elements and new Evoque-inspired aluminum trims, while retaining the contrast between light and dark surfaces and the combination of premium materials.

Among the features is what appears to be an interesting lever-less control for the automatic transmission, which contributes to the essential, flat-shaped design of the center tunnel.

2013 Range Rover Center Tunnel Detail The cabin is focused on comfort and refinement, and aims at providing occupants “with a sensation of serene isolation”

The optimized body structure and acoustic lamination of the windshield and side door glass have significantly reduced noise levels.

Rear passengers will benefit from the increased legroom (+4.7 inches/118mm) and the optional two place seating package, which provides a premium, custom

Technical Features

This new aluminum platform delivers significant enhancements in performance and agility, along with an improvement in fuel economy and reduction in CO2 emissions.

2013 Range Rover The chassis features all-new aluminum front and rear architecture, coupled with a re-engineered four-corner air suspension.

Depending on the markets, the new Range Rover will be available with a choice of V8 gasoline engine, TDV6 and SDV8 diesel units.

Amongst the technical innovations featured in the new model Rover is the next-generation of Land Rover’s Terrain Response system, which analyses the current driving conditions and road surfaces through on-board sensors, and automatically selects the most suitable vehicle settings program for the terrain.

The all-new Range Rover will be produced at a new manufacturing facility at Solihull, UK which employs the latest low-energy aluminum body construction technologies.

The model will be available in over 160 markets worldwide, with deliveries scheduled to start in December 2012 (US) and early 2013 (Europe).
