Denza is a new brand for all-electric vehicles launched by BYD Daimler New Technology Co. Ltd., a 50:50 joint venture between Daimler and Chinese electric battery and car manufacturer BYD.
The concept car is a full electric battery-driven model designed in China and expected to be sold in the local Chinese market.
Speaking of the project, CEO Lian Yubo commented: “We brought traditional Chinese elements forward into the next generation with a priority on ergonomic design and some futuristic innovations.”
“The rear seating area was designed to feel as much as possible like a lounge area. The lounge character really comes out through the reclining rear seats integrated into the design.”
Among the elements inspired by modern interiors are also the ambient light system that runs all throughout the cabin and the wood and copper details.
The influence from the Daimler design language is particularly evident in the side view, where the lines and surface treatment are reminiscent of the previous-generation Mercedes-Benz B-Class.
Additional distinctive elements include the rear-hinged rear doors and the exterior chrome trim running along the lower section of the car, which can also be illuminated.
