Alfa Romeo 1900 C52 Disco Volante Coupe The original “Disco Volante” (‘flying disc’ in Italian) was created in 1952 by Alfa Romeo in collaboration with Touring-Superleggera coachbuilder.

The car was based on the 1900 C and was produced in just four units – three coupé and one spyder.

Alfa Romeo also built a number of racing cars – named 6C3000CM – inspired by the open version.

These vehicles were equipped with a 250 hp 3.5 liter six cylinder engine, had a weight of 760 kg and reached a top speed of 230 km/h.

Among the racing results of the 6C3000CM is the second place won by Manuel Fangio at the 1953 Mille Miglia.

Because of the unique design and the popularity gained with the Mille Miglia, Alfa Romeo received many requests of reservation, nevertheless the company ultimately decided not to put into production the sportscar.
