The modern and innovative EcoSport will be part of a showcase of vehicles on display to capture the attention of customers to one of the most important auto shows in the region.
Designed for the new emerging markets, the EcoSport is a close-to-production B-segment concept with a design that adopts the many of the typical elements of the brand.
The dynamic surface treatment is combined with a number of offroad-oriented elements – including the front and rear underbody protections and the trunk mounted spare tire – and concept-like details such as the LED lighting units.
The compact SUV will feature a downsized powertrain, with a 1.0 liter, three cylinder EcoBoost gasoline engine, which according to Ford will deliver power and performance similar to those of a traditional 1.6 liter gasoline engine, while emitting less than 140g/km CO 2.
The new EcoSport will be marketed in nearly 100 countries worldwide and will be produced in India and Brazil, and other markets to be announced at a later time.
The all-new compact SUV will also play a significant role in Ford’s global plan to achieve a 50 percent increase in worldwide sales by mid-decade to 8 million vehicles a year. Asia Pacific and Africa is expected to deliver 60 percent to 70 percent of that target.
The EcoSport is the second of eight products Ford plans to bring to India by mid-decade.
Joining the EcoSport on the Ford stand will be the Ford Figo, the All-New Fiesta, the Ford Classic, and the Ford Endeavour – an all-action SUV.
