The Chevrolet Tru 140S Concept is a study of a four seat, front-wheel drive affordable sportscar based on the platform of the Cruze and the Volt.

Presented at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show along with the Code 130R, the Tru 140S was developed at the GM North America Advanced Design studio in Los Angeles with the goal of creating an attractive-yet-affordable sports car targeted to customers under 30 years.

The design aims at expressing a sense of exoticness, speed and premium value, which is underlined by the taut surface treatment, the well-balanced and distinctive proportions and the matte white finish.

The car is powered by a 1.4L Turbo Ecotec engine delivering 150 hp and a 40 mpg efficiency and equipped with stop-start technology.

The interior – which has not been developed in 3D – features innovative storage solutions and advanced connectivity, including WiFi, smart phone integration with Chevrolet MyLink and heads-up display.

According to Chevrolet, the possible production price would range in the low $20,000s.

Chevrolet Code 130R and Tru 140S ConceptsSpeaking about the Tru 140S and the Code 130R, Frank Saucedo, director of the GM North America Advanced Design studio in Los Angeles, commented: “Young customers tell us they want functionality with coupe-like aesthetics. Both the Code and Tru body styles resonated with this audience.”

“This buyer prizes connectivity. Allowing them to stay connected by integrating their personal devices through MyLink and WiFi enabling the vehicle to be their own docking station,” said Saucedo.

“The interiors currently exist in 2D only. This allows us the flexibility to continue the discussion and encourage more dialogue as we continue to develop these concepts.”
