Volkswagen has unveiled the Passat Alltrack, a new off-road oriented version of the estate model. It will go on sale in early 2012.

Volkswagen Passat AlltracksBased on the estate version, the Passat Alltrack was designed to fill the gap between a conventional wagon and a SUV, and will be positioned in a segment between the Passat Estate and the Tiguan.

The Alltrack is targeted to customers who need to use their family car also as a towing vehicle, or in light off-road situations.

In comparison with the standard Passat, the new model is characterized by new bumpers in SUV style – with wheel well and side sill flares, a greater off-road ramp angle, approach angle, departure angle and higher ground clearance.
