Revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show along with a group of Up! Concepts, the GT Up! is a proposal of a sporty version that brings the Golf GTI character to the city car line-up.

Volkswagen GT Up! Concept Design SketchWhile the production Up! is equipped with engines with power outputs lower than 55 kW, the GT Up! Concept offer a glimpse of what a sporty, more extreme version could look like.

Featuring a hypothetical 100 hp engine, the GT Up! would benefit from the total mass of just 900 kg which would result in excellent dynamic performance and a sporty driving experience.

The concept showcases a sporty color named oryx white” with pearl effect.

Volkswagen GT Up! Concept The front end is characterized by a completely redesigned bumper, which deviates from the typical up! design by integrating a Golf GTI-inspired large, central cooling air intake with an honeycomb grille.

Additional distinctive elements include two cooling air intakes for the brakes – which integrate are the wing-shaped LED daytime running lights – the painted side sills, black door mirrors and 17-inch alloy wheels with 195 tires.

Volkswagen GT Up! Concept The final sporty touches are provided by the roof edge spoiler and a double flow exhaust system with chrome tailpipes.

Inside, the GT up! is characterized by the anthracite-colored surfaces, contrasted by the center seat panels with their blue checked pattern and the “paint blue” rings around the air vent nozzles.

The dashboard and upper door trim panels are painted in glossy black, matched by the black roofliner.

According to Volkswagen, at the moment there are no plans to put the GT up! into production.
