The GranTurismo Concept is a design study of a possible future interpretation of the Maserati iconic model. The authors are Politecnico di Milano students Michal Cerva, Georgios Gougoulakis, César Pieri and Andrea Urso.

Created at the Politecnico di Milano Transportation and Automobile design Master under the supervision of Fiat, the GranTurismo Concept 2020 was developed with the goal of combining classic proportions and the brand’s trademark style with some new ideas.

The proportions are characterized by the short front overhang and the arched shoulders and roofline. To maintain the long hood, the cabin was slightly pushed back.

The main body volume is combined with a lower part that maintains a surface continuity, forming the front spoiler, the side sills and extending up to the rear end.

In side view, the covers of the rear wheels make the rear section appear as a single, smooth surface.

The front wheels feature a special rim design that visually increase their diameter.

Additional details include the air outlets and the two arch-shaped character lines, which are reminiscent of several Pininfarina creations.

The rear end is defined by a distinct, single surface that extends from the underbody and integrates the bumper, diffuser and rear fascia, with the LED tail lights composing a distinctive light pattern.

The interior has four individual seats, a dashboard defined by curved lines and an extended center tunnels that divides the cabin in two parts.

Great effort from the designers- unlike some other projects that I have seen…, this one stayed true to itself in terms of the brand identity while still demonstrating a futuristic style- that rear-end is distinguishable and beautiful.
