The first versions revealed by Porsche are – as in the brand’s tradition – the 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera S.
The exterior design features a longer wheelbase (+100 mm) and a reduced height which, along with the 20-inch, underline the car’s stance.
At the front the 2013 911 can be distinguished from the new headlights which have distinctive “rounded” outer shapes – compared to the almost flat surfaces of the old 911 – that in side view visually extend the surfaces of the front fenders.
Another new design element is represented by the side mirrors, which have been moved from the mirror triangle to the upper edge of the door.
The rear end is characterized by elongated tail lights that underline the car’s width.
The new body features a lightweight aluminum-steel construction that significantly contributes to the overall weight reduction of 45 kg.
The interior is characterized by new lines influenced by the Panamera and Carrera GT.
The 911 Carrera will be available with a new 350 hp 3.4-liter boxer engine and optional PDK (dual-clutch gearbox), while the Carrera S will be powered by a 3.8-liter unit delivering 400 hp.
Among the technical highlights are the stop-start and a new seven-speed manual transmission.
Scheduled to debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Show, the new 911 will be launched at the end of 2011 / early 2012, with prices starting from 88k Euros.
Ugly butt, that doesn’t belong to a Porsche…
