Gordon Murray was commissioned by the Batman Live show to create an original interpretation of the Batmobile. The result is a Formula 1-inspired concept.

The Batmobile can be considered a “classic” theme that many concept designers and artists have undertaken: just 3 months ago Car Design Fetish launched a design contest for the iconic superhero’s vehicle.

Batmobile by Gordon Murray Batmobile Design Sketch by Gordon MurrayThe latest interpretation is the concept created by Gordon Murray for the Batman Live show, a stage production that will premiere in the UK and in Europe this Summer.

The concept created by the British designer takes inspiration from the Formula 1 world and looks oriented towards performances and efficiency rather than being purely focused on appearance.

The body is characterized by the carbon-fiber skin, and the “anti-gravity” powertrain uses hydrogen fuel cells and lithium-ion batteries.

The dark tones of the surfaces are contrasted by the LED strips that serve as “spokes” of the “virtual wheels” and by the rear carbon-ceramic afterburner.

The rear end cross-section gives a clear and bold visual hint of the superhero’s iconic bat logo.
