Unveiled by Virtual Car, the Smart ForFamily is a urban concept vehicle with in-wheels electric motors and an integral steering system. The author is Italian designer Simone Frattasi.

TheAutoConnection has revealed some official sketches that preview a possible line of accessories for the new Smart ForTwo, but at the moment there are no production plans.

At the Mercedes-Benz museum the "smart story" exhibition documents the development of the fortwo with a selection of unusual design studies, prototypes and show cars. Until 14 January 2007 visitors can see the new model before it is launched in April.

German magazine Auto Motor Und Sport has published some design proposals for a future Smart targeted at the North American market. The auhor is the renowned designer Mark Stehrenberger.

The official design studies and information released by Smart for the new fortwo model, an evolution of the previous model that was sold in 750,000 units and has become an urban "icon" in many European cities.

Auto Express has revealed a preview image of the future Smart Roadster, that will be produced by UK-based Project Kimber in several variants, even with the AC brand. They may be revealed at the next Geneva Motor Show.

Smart has released some previously unpublished design sketches of the new fortwo model, that will be launched in the spring of 2007, and will not be displayed at Paris.

During the German beach volleyball championships in Timmendorf, Smart has unveiled a sand sculpture that shows the design language of the new Fortwo model, which will be presented this autumn. The author is Pavel Zasanyok, a sand sculpture world champion from Russia.

This concept is a vehicle specifically designed for lifeguards: its taks are first aid, beach patrol, safety and water rescue. It is powered by the 800cc turbo Smart engine, placed between the front and rear seats.
