The online car design community DesignerSpace.com has organized a worldwide design contest named "Ultimate SUV Coupé". Partecipation is totally free and open to everyone. The deadline is October 1st 2006.

SolidWorks Corporation has announced the 2006 edition of its Design Contest, open to SolidWorks users working in the product design sector. Prizes include hardware and software, for a total value of US$150,000.

Peugeot has announced the 4th edition of its Design Competition. The theme of the event is summarized by the words Pleasurable (to drive), Lively, Efficient, Accessible, Simple, Ecological (P.L.E.A.S.E.). Partecipants can submit their entries between 16 October and 4 December 2006.

DesignerTechniques.com has announced the winners of its design competition started back in June. The 1st prize went to Rollo Dixon, graduated in Automotive Design at the Coventry University in 2005, who has presented an original 3-seater whose design was inspired by natural shapes.

Stola has built a 1:1 scale model of a record car based on a 1950's project by Carlo Mollino, the Turinese architect. The model will be shown in an exhibition at the Turin Modern Art Gallery from September 20th 2006 to January 7th 2007.

On next September the Goodwood Revival will celebrate the "bubble-cars" phenomenon with a display of 30 cars, often showing unusual solutions like front-hinged doors, tiny engines and tandem seating positions.

Atari has announced the winning designer of the "Do You Want to Be a Car Designer Contest?". David Sichtermann's concept will be featured in the next edition of "Test Drive Unlimited".

After starting in Milan on 4 April, the tour that celebrates the Lancia centennial and the hundred years of Italian design that it represents, has moved to Barcelona where will remain open until Thursday 13 July.

Virtual Car has published an extensive photographic report of the Master in Transportation Design final projects presentation, hosted by Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan, Italy, last 27th June.

During the next days the "Scuola Politecnica di Design" Italian design school will exhibit the final projects of the 2005-2006 edition of "Master in Car Design", started in partnership with Audi. The theme of this year is "Avant 2015".
