Mercedes-Benz and Wallpaper* magazine have started a multi-disciplinary design competition inspired by the GLK model. The contest is open to six selected European design schools.

Ford has sponsored a design contest at Detroit's College for Creative Studies: eleven students were invited to reinvent the iconic Model T, which celebrates its centenary in 2008. The winner is Dong Tran with an electric crossover concept.

Peugeot has announced the launch of the 5th edition of its Design Contest. The theme is a concept car for the megalopolis of tomorrow. The submission deadline is 20 July 2008.

Citroen has announced the results of its C-Design Competition. The winner is Bulgarian Ognyan Bozhilov, who created a sledge concept constructed from Citroen car parts including a rear seat, a steering wheel, roof pillars and a spoiler.

The Automotive Designers Show is the first exhibition totally dedicated to professionals working in the vehicle design field. The first edition will take place in Milan, Italy from 7 to 9 April 2009.

The 2008 edition of the VDA Design Awar is open to worldwide students of design and arts. The competition task is to produce visionary concepts and solutions for commercial vehicles, with special attention to transport efficiency.

The 4th edition of the Mini Design Award contest is open to all designers with the theme 'Giving value to water'. The event will be promoted at the next Milano Design Week which takes place on 15-21 April 2008.

The 2008 New York International Auto Show takes place at the Jacob Javits Convention Center from 21 to 30 March 2008. Exhibitors include 43 vehicle manufacturers with over 1000 new cars and trucks.

Car Design News has announced the winners of its Car Design of the Year 2007 Awards. The Bmw Concept CS has placed first in the concept category, while the award for the best production car went to the Fiat 500.

On 7-8-9 April 2008 the Universität der Künste Berlin (University of Arts Berlin) will be holding the first 3D Modelling Symposium for architects, industrial designers and engineers. The event will include Master Classes on 3D modelling advanced techniques.
