Peugeot has released the first pictures of the 206 Sedan, that will be displayed at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The fifth silhouette in the 206 family, the 206 Sedan has been designed by the Peugeot Style Centre.
The rear lights are identical to those of the hatchback and curve around the wing. The boot lid features a registration plate mounted on
a chrome-plated mounting panel. The overall style of the rear is inspired by that of the 607.
With an overall length of 4.188 m and a width of 1.655 m, it has a wheelbase of 2.442 m.
Compared to the 3 or 5-door hatchback versions, the increase in overall length (+ 353 mm) is due
solely to the extension of the rear overhang, which is increased to 961 mm instead of 608 previously.
This increase is dedicated entirely to increasing the capacity of the boot which, measuring
245 dm3 VDA on the hatchback, rises to 384 dm3 VDA on the 206 Sedan (+ 139 dm3 VDA).
From these preview images we can say that the design lost part of the original appeal and sporty look: the rear end appears overdimensioned especially if compared with the rear wheels.
This confirms how difficult it is to transform a hatchback body into a sedan body without a sacrifice in terms of shape and beauty.
