UniCab: a Taxi for tomorrow’s NYC
The UniCab is a proposal for an eco-friendly taxi designed for the city of New York. It features an electric powertrain, a spacious cabin with seating capacity for four people and an infotainment system which displays trip and tourist information.
Currently developed by UniCar, UniCab is a proposal for a future taxi car designed for New York City.
It is powered by a fully electric powertrain with four in-wheel motors, which allow to achieve a layout with a flat floor.
The batteries could be easily recharged through an infrastructure of "Boomerang Hub Recharging
Stations", located in strategic positions across the City.

The cab can transport four passengers and has wide sliding door as well as an automated ramp for wheel-chairs. The onboard entertainment system displays trip information as well as tourist information.
Among the tehnical features are the adjustable air & hydraulic suspension, aimed at the reduction of moving parts to increase reliability and reduce maintainance.
