The University of Trieste - Faculty of Architecture has launched the 2010 edition of its car design competition open to design students and graduates worldwide, which asks to create a feasible yet original dream car or city car. The submission deadline is 1 March 2009.

The Faculty of Architecture at the University of Trieste has organised in collaboration with the Associazione Amatori Veicoli Storici of Trieste (Association of Vintage Vehicles Amateurs) an international competition of free hand drawings and/or computer generated entitled «Car design».

The main themes to be tackled and on which solutions should be proposed for the car of the future are: the overall dimensions, and comfort of cars, their use in urban and/or extra urban areas. The proposed vehicle can either be a dream car (beautiful and impossible) or a city car.

The finalists will be selected considering the following features: originality, feasibility, appropriate definition of both internal and external features, materials used and dimensions.

In particular, the quality of the sketch (hand-drawn or computer generated) will be carefully evaluated.

Participants should present a written description in A4 layout; up to four panels in A3 landscape format, including the 4 views of the vehicle (front, back, side, plan) and an artistic sketch of the project; and a CD Rom with additional information and CAD files - where available (see the official website for complete rules).

The projects must be delivered within 1 March 2010 in sealed packages addressed to: «Concorso internazionale Car design – Facoltà di Architettura – Università degli Studi di Trieste – via S. Anastasio 12 – 34134 Trieste – Italia».

Participation is free. The competition is restricted to students and graduates from the faculties of architecture, engineering, design, fine arts, who are no older than 35 years on the date of entering the work.

  • First prize: 3000,00 euros
  • Second prize: 2000,00 euros
