Volkswagen Room Concept
Volkswagen Ego Concept
The VW One Concept features flexible chassis design, with a folding mechanism and magnetic suspensions.
it fits into every parking space and joins together with other ones to form trains during rush hour that can be steered automatically past every traffic jam.
Technical features include the electric propulsion and human range extender.
In VW's vision, a wireless ad-hoc network will connect future cars with each other allowing to exchange traffic information with other drivers and traffic control centers.
Information exchanged in this way will help you avoid traffic jams, prevent accidents and find a parking space at any time.
The position and speed of the vehicle, air and ground temperature and the intervention of ESP or ABS is communicated to a central computer and processed as an ice/slippery road warning that is accurate to within a metre, which is then sent to other road users in the area.
Driving assistants and Car-to-X communication provide
support for managing traffic flows. When driving on the
motorway slip road, the control centre tells the car when
and at what speed it can drive onto the motorway. The
assistants help you feed into the traffic flow.
Those using this system also profit in cities. In the rush hour, vehicles can form convoys with their own “inbuilt right of way”. The speed of this group can be planned and synchronised with the traffic light system so that it always gets the green light.
"One phenomenon that will be relegated to the past by Car-to-X is the search for a parking space. All parking spaces will notify the control centre of whether they are occupied or free.
"All the driver has to do is enter his destination in the navigation system and he will be taken to the next free parking space. Or he can get out at his destination and the car can drive itself to the nearest parking space."
