Maserati has unveiled the Grantursismo S, a high performance version of the coupe powered by a 440 hp V8 engine. It will debut at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show.

The Granturismo S arrives a year after the unveiling of the GranTurismo at Geneva 2007. It is defined by Maserati as "the ultimate expression of the coupé's sportiness" with an "emphasis onto performance and driving enjoyment."

Leather and alcantara interiorCompared to the standard version, the Granturismo S is powered by a 440 HP V8 4.7 engine - instead of the 405 HP 4.2 liters unit - and an electro-actuated gearbox with fast MC-Shift arranged in the Transaxle layout typical of high-performance sports cars.

The special brake system was developed in collaboration with Brembo and features front brake discs made with dual-cast technology - a dual casting of cast iron and aluminum, paired with aluminum mono-bloc 6-piston brake calipers.

The exterior design is characterised by a number of aesthetic modifications that give a sporty look without abandoning the sleekness of the lines masterfully designed by Pininfarina.

The interior is upholstered in Poltrona Frau leather and Alcantara; the figure-hugging front and rear seats are distinguished by their new design with horizontal piping on the seats and seatbacks.
