The new A4 Avant measures 4.70 meters (15.42 feet) in length, almost 12 centimeters (4.72 inches) longer than its forerunner model.

Design

Compared to the forerunner model, the proportions have been reconfigured in a sportier design.

The front overhang has been shortened, and the engine hood and the wheel base have gained considerably in length.

The flat D-posts lend the Audi A4 Avant a dynamic, coupe-like silhouette, while the rear design emphasizes its width with powerful, horizontal lines.

Features

The range of engines includes two gasoline engines (1.8 TFSI - 160 hp / 250 Nm and 3.2 V6 FSI - 265 hp / 330 Nm) and three diesel engines (two versions of the 2.0 TDI - 143-170 hp / 320-350 Nm and the 3.0 TDI - 240 hp / 500 Nm).The new A4 Avant features a differential which has moved directly behind the engine. This enabled to move the five-link front axle 154 millimeters (6.06 inches) forward.

This solution provides for a longer wheel base and for a better distribution of the axle loads, thus improving both handling and ride comfort.

The 3.2 FSI and the 3.0 TDI come equipped with quattro permanent all-wheel drive as a standard feature.

Among the technical highlights are redesigned aluminum suspensions (pivot bearing and the five links at the front axle and track-controlled trapezoidal link at the rear), an adaptive controller for the shock absorbers which lowers the body by about 20 millimeters (0.79 inches)., the dynamic steering that varies the steering ratio continuously by almost 100 percent depending on the speed and the dynamic cornering light system (adaptive light) .

The luggage capacity ranges from 490 liters (+12 liters compared to the outcoming model) up to 1,430 liters.

Optional interior equipment includes a large panoramic glass sunroof, air-conditioned comfort seats, triple-zone climate control system, keyless system.

The A4 Avant will be available for sale in the spring in Germany and other European markets with retail prices starting from €27,550 for the Audi A4 Avant 1.8 TFSI Attraction.
