UK-based company Arash Cars has released the first renderings of its AF-8 upcoming sportscar. It will be powered by a V8 unit by GM and will go on sale in 2010.

Arash AF-8 RenderingThe AF-8 model will be launched in 2010 and will be an 'entry-level' model derived from the company's AF-10, that will be launched soon.

The choice of the engine is still to be determined: the company is investigating the use of a 7-liters t 550-hp V8 unit by General Motors as well as a turbo-diesel engine.

Like the AF-10 model, the AF-8 will have a composite steel-carbon chassis. Dimensions will be more compact both in footprint and overhangs and the general aim of the project is to create a supercar that can be "driven as an everyday car."

The price will be approximately £120,000 and the production volume is expected to be in the 25-50 units per year range. A Supercharged version is expected to be released at later date.

Additional features are a 6 speed manual transmission by Graziano, 19 inches wheels and a full leather interior.

Design

The main design elements include large flat surfaces, coke bottle style shaping to the overall footprint of the car and a ‘smiling face’ design to the front of the car.

All these styling cues are intended to pay homage to Le Mans Sports Cars and F1 cars.

Among the aerodynamic features are front separate wings, active rear wing and fixed rear diffuser.

A dihedral reflex aperture or 'reverse NACA duct' is located behind the front wheels in the door outer skin and allows for air pressure release and hot air relief from front disc brakes.

he full carbon and steel frame chassis features steel front and rear crash structures and cradles.

The carbon fibre with honeycomb and nomex sandwhiches allow for further weight savings and stiffness advantages.
