Alfa Romeo Junior Sketch (Source: Autoblog.it)
The public contest is not a first for the Italian automaker.
In 1966 Alfa Romeo started a contest to name its new compact roadster.
Participation was very high and the final name was the legendary "Spider Duetto".
According to the contest brief, the new name must express energy and dynamism, must look into the future with a particular attention to young people and to Alfa Romeo's style.
The contest is open to residents from Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Great Britain and Japan; each country has a different submission deadline.
For more information about the AlfaNaming competition visit www.alfanaming.co.uk (UK residents) or read the rules in pdf format for the complete information.
According to the first information, the next Junior will be available with 1.4 liter T-Jet gasoline engines (up to 200 hp) and 1.6 Multi-Jet diesel engines (up to 150 hp).
It will go on sale during the 2nd quarter of 2008, and a possible GTA version could be marketed later.
