Mitsubishi has revealed a preview sketch of the Concept-cX, a crossover between a passenger car and a SUV focused on environment-friendly technologies. Powered by a Euro 5 diesel unit, the Concept-cX will be presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Mitsubishi Concept-cXThe Mitsubishi Concept-cX is a compact SUV (4.10 meters long) intended to to create a link between the brand's passenger cars and SUVs and to carry a message of environmental sustainability.

The Concept-cX will contribute to present Mitsubishi's environmental strategy, previewing the CO2-friendly next generation Euro 5 Clean Diesel family of engines co-developed with its parent company, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd.

The sporty exterior design features the “Jet Fighter” grille already seen with Lancer Sports Sedan.

The engine is a next generation 1.8-litre Clean Diesel that previews a family of powertrains to be launched in the course of 2009.

Mitsubishi Concept-cXIt features a variable geometry diffuser (VG) turbocharger – to generate optimum boost pressure for all engine loads – and DPF technologies.

The unit is coupled with an automated manual transmission and an electrically controlled four-wheel drive drivetrain derived from the Outlander model.

Mitsubishi Concept-cX’s further green credentials include eco-friendly “Green Plastics”, MMC’s proprietary plant-based resin technology, effectively used for interior trim materials.
