Below we report an excerpt from the official interview to Roberto Ronchi, Maserati CEO on the design of the Maserati GranTurismo.

Maserati Granturismo - Clay modelWhat are the particular aspects of this renewed cooperation?

First of all, it must be said that the new coupé uses the same platform as the Quattroporte. It is, therefore, of impressive size with lots of inside space, a sports car authorized to carry four persons, not a 2+2.

While exploiting all available space in the best way possible, it was also necessary to create an elegant and at the same time very forceful look, able to emphasize the sporting DNA of the Tridente marque. A style that does not pass unnoticed, that creates a sensation and which remains - like that of the Quattroporte - in the history of the car.

What sensations does the style of the new Maserati GranTurismo convey?

The design of the GranTurismo is characterized by large sections, especially as regards the front end and radiator grille, that recall the famous competition Maserati’s of the Fifties, Sixties and Seventies, while the rest of the design is avant-garde so as to exalt the technological “package” of the vehicle. Therefore, Pininfarina has once again succeeded in creating a design of rare beauty that is a successful amalgam of Maserati’s traditional values and futuristic lines that emphasize the high-tech contents of the new coupé.
