Compared to the standard model, the Gallardo Superleggera can benefit from a power output increase of 10 hp and a weight reduction of 100 kg (70 kg in the USA), achieved thanks to the adoption of lightweight advanced materials.
The engine is the latest version of the 4,961 cm3 V10 which now delivers 530 hp at 8,000 rpm. The power increase was made possible by improving the volumetric efficiency through reduced intake load losses and by exhaust backpressures, together with optimized electronic control.
The engine hood is made of visible carbon fibre and transparent polycarbonate which lets the V10 engine exposed.
Other carbon fiber details include the rear diffuser and underbody covering, the rearview mirrors, door panels and the central tunnel’s covering.
Further reductions in weight were achieved by replacing some glass surfaces with transparent polycarbonate.
Thank to a weight/power ratio of 2.5 kg/hp, the Gallardo Superleggera can count on improved dynamic performances.
Th 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 3.8 seconds (0.2 seconds less than the basic model).
Technical highlights include a standard robotized mechanical e-gear gearbox that allows for shifting without removing hands from the steering wheel.
The interior features monocoque carbon fibre sports seats covered in Alcantara®.
The new Gallardo Superleggera - debuting at the Geneva Motor Show - will be produced by Lamborghini in a limited series. It can be ordered through the dealer network starting March 2007.
