Mark Stehrenberger was asked by Auto Motor Und Sport to think about a plausible evolution of the Smart model range in order to be sold successfully in the North American Market.

Stehrenberger's proposal consists of an extended Fortwo (+1 meter in length) with a model range that includes a 4x4 Crossover and a Pick-Up version.
