The Superbus is a work in progress project developed by Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and supported by Government funding and Connexxion sponsorship. This concept vehicle is powered by electric motors and can reach a top speed of 250 km/h.

The project is lead by Dutch professor Wubbo Ockels and was awarded €10 million from public and private funding. The most interesting styling feature is the reduced height (about 5.6 feet or 1.70 meters - like a SUV) that makes the Superbus look longer than it is.

The total lenght is actually comparable to that of conventional buses: the Superbus can transport about 30 passengers, who cannot stand up inside the cabin.

The top speed of 250 Kkm/h (155 mph) requires a specific infrastructure, with "Super Lanes" running along traditional highways.

This innovative vehicle is in its early stage of development and a production version is still years away.
