
This year thesis for the Transportation Design Course at the Istituto Europeo di Design (European Design Institute) was started in partnership with McLaren, which proposed the theme of an extreme supercar with a top speed of more than 320km/h.
Among the requirements of the project - named “Una sportiva da più di 320 km/h” ("A +320 km/h Sportscar") - given during the brief in February 2006, the use of Formula 1-derived technology.
The 39 students visited the McLaren Technology Center in Woking (UK) where they learned about the production processes, the history and the philosophy of the McLaren brand.

Then, 14 working groups were created and at the end of March each group presented three concepts.

McLaren M-Eleven B Concept The best 14 projects (one for each group) were selected by Jonathan Carrier, Product Planning Manager and Barry Lett, Head of Vehicle Design (McLaren).
The presentation of the 1:4 scale models was held on 27 June 2006 at the Turin headquarters of the Institute, in front of McLaren Antony Sheriff, Managing Director, Mark Vinnels, Director of Future Programmes, Jonathan Carrier, Product Planning Manager and Barry Lett, Head of Vehicle Design.

All the models have been on display until the end of September 2006 at the School headqurters (Via S. Quintino 39, Turin).
