At the 2006 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January Mazda will unveil the Kabura, a compact coupé concept vehicle designed at Mazda's Design Center in Irvine, California.

Kabura is the third design concept vehicle from Mazda in the last five months following Mazda Sassou (designed at Mazda’s European Design Centre in Oberursel, Germany) and Mazda Senku (designed at Mazda’s Yokohama Design Centre near Tokyo), each reflecting the global influences that Mazda chief designers can draw from.

"The Mazda Kabura sports coupe is a vehicle with a compact body that combines the pleasures of sports car driving with functionality. With a rear-wheel drive powertrain, dynamic styling and a wide range of utilities on board, it was designed for first-time new car buyers who love to drive".
