Alfa Romeo designers on the inspiration behind the Giulia

Following some critics, Alfa Romeo design chief Alessandro Maccolini has declared that the main source of inspiration was the Alfa 156 and not the BMW 3 Series.


The statement was made at the recent Autostyle Design Competition 2015, held in Mantova this past October, and recently reported by Automotive News Europe.

At the same event, interiors chief designer Inna Kondakova explained that, due to the high expectations for the model. for the interiors the company decided to have a different, no-compromise approach: a break with tradition which resulted in every component being specifically developed for the car.
