Porsche Cayman: design video

Porsche has released a short clip featuring Tony Hatter, Design Manager for Sports Cars, who discusses some of the design elements of the new Cayman.


In the video, Tony Hatter explains how Porsche designers managed to radically change the proportions of the new Cayman while keeping the model’s identity; he also underlines the importance of pencil and paper as fundamental tools for designers.

The design of the new Cayman also features some influences from the 1964 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS
designed by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, especially in the roofine, rear end a flanks.

    Much prettier than the previous generation, but the front end ends up looking like a 360 Modena. And that’s no good.
